Since a few days, all those who manage restaurant pages in Google My Business we are seeing a new option inside your panel named configuration “food orders”. It is not activated at the moment, and it links you to an error page 404, but it is evident that very soon the restaurants will be able to configure and manage your services delivery through this Google page, as it already happens in other countries.
In the United States you can order food directly from Google Search, Google Maps or the Google Assistant. The new service works through partnerships with existing delivery companies such as by Dash, Postmates Y ChowNow, This means that you can now order from any of them without having to download an app or even visit their website..
This new functionality adds a new button in the restaurant file, “Order online” that will appear when searching for a compatible restaurant. From here, you can choose between pick up and deliver home, and select the service through which you want to order the meal. If the restaurant allows it, orders are made in their entirety through the Google interface and Google Pay.
Mobile device users can also use the Google Assistant to order. The Wizard will guide users to place part of the order, but at a certain point, the device will have to be lifted to make decisions by touching the screen.
A typical user would have to perform the following steps to order food through the new service “Order online”:
1.- Find the restaurant
When the user searches for a restaurant in Google or Maps explorer, If the restaurant allows it and has a supplier linked, you will be given the option to order food through the new Google functionality, which would show a button on the restaurant's tab “Order online”.

Once the user places their order, the cart goes through Google validation, and a page appears where you will have to add the shipping information and configure the Google Pay payment method.
