Just Eat Takeaway.com, the leading company in the food delivery sector, has announced the launch of a new model delivery service in Spain through its own network of distributors who will work under an employment contract, as the company has always defended. This announcement represents another step in the company's firm commitment to regulatory compliance and the creation of safe and quality employment, making Just Eat Takeaway.com the first delivery company with contracted delivery people in our country.
This new type of contracting will be gradually implemented over the coming months in the main Spanish cities where Just Eat already operates.. This way of working will complement the one already used by the company, based on the hiring of distributor employees through companies specialized in last-mile logistics.
Scoober, how is this model known, has already been implemented in more than 120 cities in Europe by company. In addition to representing an advance in labor matters for the delivery men, its benefit translates into a higher level of affiliation of the dealer with the company, which in turn results in an improvement of the service for consumers and restaurants.
In this way, the transformation of the model is in line with the objectives that have driven Just Eat for years: reinforce its leadership within the sector through a business model that, complying with the regulations, adapts to the particularities of the digital economy without undermining the sustainability of the system and, specific, social protection for delivery workers.
“Our delivery service for restaurants is in full growth and is tremendously strategic for us. Combining our current model of hiring delivery men through companies specialized in last-mile logistics with the use of them by our group is a natural evolution.. It allows us to optimize our operations and a higher level of bonding with our distributors.
I am convinced that this model will be a success as it is nothing new in many parts of Europe where our colleagues have been applying it for years.. There is currently a necessary debate about the figure of the delivery man and Just Eat, as a leading company in the sector in Spain for 10 years, has a strong commitment to regulatory compliance, the generation of quality employment and sustainability, in its broadest sense, platform business.
We are convinced that the launch of Scoober will result in an even better service for our consumers and restaurants ", comments Patrik Bergareche Sainz de los Terreros, Managing Director of Just Eat Takeaway.com in Spain.
The Scoober model will allow Just Eat Takeaway.com distributors to continue offering an employment contract and they will be framed within the General Social Security Scheme, as is already the case in its contracting model via logistics companies.
In this way, Just Eat Takeaway.com brings to Spain a trend that begins to prevail in Europe, following in the wake of other countries like, for example, Germany and the Netherlands where this model has been successfully implemented for years.
